The Hille Tänavsuu cancer treatment foundation "The Gift of Life" is a privately initiated cancer treatment support foundation. The mission of the foundation is to support cancer patients whose treatment is not considered sufficiently "cost-effective" by the government. We help people obtain essential cancer medication, thereby gifting them hope, life and health.
Established in 2014, “The Gift of Life” cancer treatment foundation has supported treatment for nearly 1200 Estonian people over seven years. The youngest of them was 5 years and the oldest was 83 years of age. The foundation has also funded the neuroblastoma treatment for two small children, Tauris and Annabel, resulting in both of them declared free of the disease.
35-40 percent of the people who have received support from the foundation get at least one additional year to live (and often even more). Several individuals have been fully healed with the support of the foundation.
The number of people seeking help from the foundation increases with each year. We need your support to continue providing everyone with hope and essential treatment. Cancer diagnoses in Estonia are on the rise – more than 7,000 new cases every year. New medications are more effective than their predecessors, but also more expensive and less accessible. “The Gift of Life” foundation helps people who have arrived at the choice of pay or die.
Your small donation can contribute to the greatest gift of all by helping out a struggling cancer patient and their family. Every euro donated to “The Gift of Life” foundation will lengthen someone’s life. In addition to helping cancer patients, the foundation also aims to participate in making the Estonian health care policy more humane and to promote donating as an integral part of life.
The organization is included on the list of income tax incentive non-profit organizations and the donors will get back the income tax paid from their donation and the donations made by companies are tax-free (Estonian Income Tax Act § 49). Read more about taxes: Donating and taxes.
