Childhood sexual abuse leads to both mental and physical health problems that are impossible to overcome without help. More than half of the members of the support group are victims of incest, i.e. they have been sexually abused by a family member. More than half of the victims were less than six years old at the time.
Today, there is a huge shortage of mental health professionals who know how to help victims of sexual violence, so the existence of groups is essential. The waiting lists of existing competent therapists are very long and the cost of their services is high. Our anonymous and victim-focused safe support groups are the only way to get help for many victims.
The members of our support groups are victims of one of the most hidden types of crime. In our support groups, they can anonymously find support, help and understanding.
In addition to running the support groups, we would like to organise a conference on sexual violence prevention in early 2024: “Sexual violence against boys and sexual violence in sport.”
- If 35 people donate €5 each, we can pay for a whole year’s worth of Zoom, which is needed for an online group for people with physical disabilities and mothers of young children.
- If 15 people donate €10, we can pay one group leader for a meeting.
- If 10 people donate €25, we can pay one therapist for group therapy.
Thank you for caring!
