On December 3, the sixth nationwide donation campaign Good Deeds Day took place, calling attention to the work of non-profit organizations and encouraging people to support them with donations. On the donation platform “I Love to Help,” created by Swedbank and Heateo Foundation, a record donation amount of €85,193 was collected, to which Swedbank will add an additional €40,000.

“It is wonderful to see that Estonian people have their hearts in the right place and that despite the uncertain economic situation, they continue to find ways to financially support those in need,” commented Tiina Pakk, Swedbank´s CSR Manager and one of the leaders of “I Love to Help.” “Considering that donations have generally been on a downward trend compared to 2022, it was a positive surprise for us that a new record was set during the Good Deeds Day, exceeding the 2022 amount by nearly €15,000 and last year's total by as much as €37,000. I thank every single person who was able to lend a helping hand and hope that this has encouraged seeing donations as part of financial planning in the future because while one-time actions are an excellent way to quickly gather larger amounts, year-round regular donations are very welcomed for providing security for NGOs,” added Pakk.

Over 2600 donations totaling €85,193 were made on the “I Love to Help” platform. The ranking by sectors: animals and nature - 31% of all donations; children - 27%; strong society - 22%; health -14%; education -6%. The phenomenal fundraiser was Saaremaa Pet Shelter (Saaremaa Lemmikloomade Turvakodu), which received support totaling €14,500 which is also a record made to the organisation during one day.

“Yesterday confirmed for us that every good deed comes back double,” commented Edit Annusver, manager of Saaremaa Pet Shelter NGO. “Our work assisting homeless and distressed animals in Saaremaa has been noticed and is considered important even from afar. We operate solely on donations; therefore, the amounts received yesterday are extremely significant. We can pay clinic bills and direct part of the funds into an operational readiness fund so we can continue being ready daily to help animals in need across Saare County,” said Annusver.

The “I Love to Help” donation environment does not take commission fees, and you may rest assured that every euro you donate is transferred from your account directly to the NGO’s bank account. You do not have to be a Swedbank customer to donate. The portal is open to make convenient and secure donations for customers of all major banks.

"I Love to Help” is Estonia’s longest-serving donation environment that features dozens of thoroughly vetted charitable organisations. On the platform, founded in 2008 by Good Deed Foundation and Swedbank, 100 different charitable and advocacy organisations have raised over €4.9M.

Currently, the armastanaidata.ee website features 43 organisations that can be divided in 5  categories: children, health, animals and nature, education, strong society.

Good Deeds Day is part of the international charitable movement Giving Tuesday that was initiated over 10 years ago in the US to counterbalance the shopping spree of Black Friday. Now, the Good Deeds Day is celebrated in more than 100 countries across the world. The Estonian Good Deeds Day is organised by the Network of Estonian Nonprofit Organizations.
